Howie Trek

OK this was done way back as well... I'm on a vintage comic kick this week, so sue me. The two guys in this strip are actual people. Howie and Ken, they are brothers. Howie owned the first place I worked for out of high school. It was a leather product manufacturer. Leather products being bags and what not for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It's a long and winding story, my career at this place. But anyway I used to draw these two on occasion in various crazy adventures. They were usually involved with the armadillos. So there's the connection. haha.
Anyway I had originally lettered the strip by hand... not bad but not great. I have now "remastered" it a bit and relettered it using BLAMBOT fonts. Go there now and buy many, keep Nate employed. Unlike Lucas and Speilberg I didn't tinker with anything else on the page, just the lettering.

Maybe next time I'll post some art I did for the company. trust me you'll love it. Now I have to go dig through my archives some more. TTFN.

The first Armadillo Junction

Here is the first, if memory serves, Armadillo strip I did waayyy back in 1986. I used a brush pen to ink it. The boys sure have evolved over the years. I hadn't even named the characters at all. They were just a bunch of armadillos hanging out dodging bikers and other dangers. Then, like Charles Schulz and Snoopy, I had the bright idea of making them walk upright on two legs.

So here's the first of many you'll be seeing. I've scanned quite a few ahead so Tuesdays will be Vintage strip day here at WIWUTM. Enjoy.

Illustration Friday

Here's the entry for Illustration Friday- CATS. This little sketch is something I did some years back as a request. Can't even remember why. But I kept it and used it as a doodle on some business cards. Anyway, I thought it would fit ok in the catagory this week. (Get it? CAT-agory..bwahahah.) Oh I crack me up. Feel free to leave comments.

Nope.. Just busy with other stuff. Work, home, etc. I do plan on kicking off with some new 'Dillo strips in the very near future. So those of you who actually care about this little blog and follow it won't be disappointed.

Meanwhile here's a little something I dug up on my harddrive.
This here a mock paperback cover I did for fun. Used a watercolor I did from a couple years back. I did the watercolor using a far better version as reference. Still I liked how it came out since I had only been working with watercolors for a short while.
Pardon T. Sowle is my great grandfathers name and Fleming Press was named for Ian Fleming of James Bond fame.
I've been enjoying the crime novel / spy genre for a while.

Anyway... here's my "novel".

Buy My Sketches Part 1

This here's a sketch I did of Harley Quinn, the Joker's main squeeze. It's up for bid on eBay if anyone is interested. If it goes well I'll be offering more sketches as well as commissioned works. Stayed tuned.
