Two pics I took in January of '05 right after digging out of the snow the blizzard left on our doorstep. Thought I'd post them up now that Ol' Man Winter is making his way to the Northeast.

Drew Tuesday 3

The third installment..albeit a little late in the day.

Here's POWER fighting some sort of alien or demon or something.

A POWER cover design.

Another Crash Badicoot drawing.

I'm trying to get Drew to do some sequential stuff for me to post. Thanks for checking in.

Happy Birthday HUDSON

Happy Thanksgiving folks!! I was thinking back this morning and realized it was one of my characters b-day today. Way back in 1982 I drew the first strips of Hudson Rock. Hudson was the name of the painted rock my 7th grade french teacher used as a door stop. Hudson was named after the movie star Rock Hudson..duh.
That's pretty much where the comparison ends though. I had plans to incorporate Hudson into the Armadillo Junction strip once it got cranking... wellllll we all know where that went. I probably will still work him in but I thought in honor of his birthday I'd post some strips up today before I get to the turkey fest. I popped thewse 3 strips together this morning using old material (which I'll post on another day). Enjoy.

Illustration Friday-Thanksgiving

Since I may not get to post something new I'm posting something old. I did this for work. A client needed another design for the annual basketball clinic. I swiped the pose from the Tasmanian Devil playing B-ball and adapted it to a turkey for the Thanksgiving theme the clinic uses. It printed in 1 color when completed.

Drew Tuesday 2

A second installment of Drew Tuesday. Truthfully he's got enough drawings done I could do a whole blog of just his stuff.. but I don't want his head getting too big. HAHA.

Besides drawing my son's other passion is video games. Crash Bandicoot is his favorite. This is one of his renditions.

Here's an older picture he did of Aunt May's favorite nephew making a quick change in an alley.

The Ultimate Avengers Drew Style.

Power foiling another jewelry store robbery.

More from the sketchbook

A couple of older sketches to start the week here. I really hope to get some more 'Dillo Strips up soon. Wish me luck.

You know sometimes when you start sketching you're really not sure where you're going with the drawing? This was one of those times.. not sure if he's an alien sentry, a space going frog or what. But I liked him enough to share.

This fella is some aging astronaut I sketched up during a July 4th cookout. When I don't pay enough attention to things my people tend to look as though they are leaning or listing to the side... he's one of theose.

Hope to maybe do some sketching tonite but HEROES is on so we'll see how that goes. That's my Monday night tv show. If you're not watching it you should be. Later gators.

Sketchy sketches

I did something I haven't done in quite some time last night. I actually got to sit down and just sketch. Was fun. So here's what I accomplished in an evening.

This is the character Molly from the comic The Perhapanauts by Todd and Craig. If you're not reading it.. shame! Go pick up your copy now.

Here's my Tiki Surfer. Sorry if the surfboard looks wrong.. I didn't bother getting any reference.

This is a sketch of my son's comic character Power. He says I made him look older than he draws him. It was a nice warm up excercise though.

A quickie sketch of E-Man. I picked up the entire first run on eBay and now there's a new series out by the same creators.

And finally here's Arnie from Armadillo Junction my own comic strip/book character. He's looking a little more rounded out than previous drawings. Probably because I haven't drawn him in such a long time he evolved again.

Self Portrait 'toon

Here's the sketch I did during work.. shhhhh. This is sorta kinda what I look like.

This is the inked version. I switched out my avatars on Blambot and on Flickr and the blog to a version of this.

And since penguins seem to be popular I figured I'd pop one on here that I did as part of a side project a few months back. My penguin would rather read a good crime novel than dance around on the ice any day.

Drew Tuesday

Taking a page from Ward over at the Ward-O-Matic blog and his Ava Thursday, I'm introducing Drew Tuesday. My son the budding comic artist (animator?) has a plethora of things that I could post. So I am.

This is one of his superheroes he calls Power.

This is a poster for POWER: All Villians Unite. It has each villian labeled for easy reference. Not sure if he's working on an actual story for this but I'll keep you posted on that.

His little Spidey sketch caught my eye as I was gathering a few things for this first Drew Tuesday. I like the slightly surprised look Spidey has. I say he draws the webs much better than I did at his age. My Spider-Man always looked like he was wearing a grid.

Illustration Fridays..missed

So for two weeks running I've been trying to get something together for Illustration Friday and work has just kept me so busy I don't get to complte the idea in time. So I'm posting what I did get done here. The first one was for "WIND". The little critter started life as a teddy bear but I wanted a tail on him so he evolved into a racoon.

This one was meant to have a noir-ish feel to it for "SMOKE". Never finished the lady friend of our intrepid P.I. Been reading too many Hard Case Crime novels I guess. I still plan of finishing them and will post the finals when I do.

Comments would be nice on these or any of my previous posts... all the best.

So I got an email the other day from Jim Stafford over at the Bran Man site inviting me to contribute to the new Bran-Man collection book. They asked for the above two designs.. not bad since I've only made 3 altogether.
So thanks, Jim.

Also I'm gonna plug a cool Podcast I've recently discovered. Coverville is put out by Brian Ibbott and as the site describes it: "Coverville is a podcast, produced three times a week, that focuses on cover songs - a new rendition of a previously recorded song. The show is produced and hosted by Brian Ibbott, in his home in Arvada, Colorado - about 10 miles West of Denver.

The show features a combination of music and information about the music, delivered in a very relaxed, informal style. On average, each show runs about 35 minutes and features six selections. Information about the performing artist, and source album is provided, along with information about the artist being covered."

It's available as downloadable MP3 files from the site or through iTunes.

Another great Podcast is Vegas Vics Tiki Lounge offering up some fabulous lounge, surf and exotica music. It's also available through iTunes or you can hook up through the site.
